Why there are affiliate links at all

iWebServe is free to read, has no ads, no paywall and no tracking. Writing and keeping more than sixty articles current takes real time, and commissions from a small number of carefully chosen hosts help pay for that without putting banner ads or tracking scripts in front of you.

How you can tell

  • Every recommendation box is labelled “A Canadian host worth a look” and carries a disclosure right beside the link.
  • Pages that recommend a host have a disclosure note near the top.
  • Affiliate links are marked rel="sponsored" in the page code, which is how search engines are told a link is commercial.
  • Links to hosts I earn nothing from are plain links, and the page says so.

How hosts are chosen

I only recommend hosts that are genuinely based in Canada, because that is what this site is about. Beyond that, a host has to stand up to the same checklist I give readers in how to choose a Canadian web host: honest renewal pricing, real support, workable backups, and a clear answer about where your data lives.

Every recommendation says whether it is researched or tested:

  • Researched means the facts come from the host’s own website and published terms, checked on the date shown, and nothing more. I say so plainly.
  • Tested means I have bought a plan with my own money, put a real site on it, contacted support and checked the claims myself.

I never call something tested when it is not, never invent ratings or star scores, and never publish fake reviews or testimonials.

What a commission never changes

  • What I write in the articles. Hosts do not see, approve or edit anything before it is published.
  • The fine print. If a plan has a catch — renewal pricing, mailbox limits, backup caps — it goes in, commission or not.
  • The price you pay. Commissions come out of the host’s marketing budget, not your bill.
  • Which hosts are listed. Canadian hosts I earn nothing from are listed in the Canadian web hosts directory alongside the ones I do.

My other businesses

I also run Design Menu, a small web design and managed hosting business, and VanIsleNet, a Vancouver Island business directory and events calendar. Both are listed in the footer and on the About page. The articles here do not promote them, and when I compare hosts, my own business is not one of the options.
